What should I expect from therapy?

Sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes. The initial session focuses on reviewing the intake paperwork and gathering information (psychosocial and family history). During this session an initial diagnostic assessment is completed and a treatment plan will be discussed including frequency of sessions, methods of interventions and goal setting.

How long does therapy last?

It’s difficult to say how long someone will participate in therapy.  Each therapeutic situation is different. The success of therapy is related to the work that is done collectively between client and therapist during regular sessions, as well as the client practicing the skills that they are learning outside the sessions.

How do you know if the therapist and client are a good fit?

Aimee will conduct a 10-15 minute phone consultation prior to scheduling an appointment.  This will help determine if Aimee can provide what the client needs and it gives the client an opportunity to assess if Aimee is a good fit for them.

Is therapy covered by insurance?

Aimee accepts Capital District Physician’s Health Plan (CDPHP)

and Highmark (Blue Shield of Northeastern NY).

Aimee also accepts private pay.

What forms of payments are accepted?

Cash, check, Venmo, Mastercard, Visa.

Please note:  There will be a $35 return check fee.

Late cancellation (less than 24 Hours) and no shows will be charged for the session ($140).  Payments and co-pays are rendered at the time of service. Fees must be received prior to scheduling or attending the next appointment.

Is therapy confidential?

Information shared in therapy cannot be shared without the client’s written permission. However, there are exceptions such as if a person is an immediate threat of harming themselves or others or there is suspicion of child and dependent elder abuse, or in case of a subpoena.

All of this information will be discussed at the initial meeting.
